Our Statement of Faith
The foundation of the Trinity Lutheran Christian School System is based upon God’s revelation of Himself through His Son, Jesus the Christ, as recorded in the Holy Bible by the power of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, we believe and teach:
- We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible and authoritative Word of God (II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:21).
- We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1; Matthew 28:19-20; John 10:30, 37, and 38).
- We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the father, and in His personal return in power and glory (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:35; Hebrews 4:15; 7:25; 9:12; John 2:11; 11:25; Ephesians 1:7; Colossians 1:14; Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:11-16).
- We believe that man is sinful by nature and that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential and an absolute necessity for his salvation (Romans 3:19-23; John 3:16-19; John 5:24; Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 3:5-6)
- We believe in the continuing ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life (Ephesians 4:30; 5:18; I Corinthians 3:16; 6:19-20).
- We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost. They who are saved to eternal life and they who are lost to eternal condemnation (John 5:28-29).
- We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9; I Corinthians 12:12-13; Galatians 3:26-28).
- We believe in the creation of man by the direct act of God (Genesis 1:26-28; 5:1-2).
Faith Based Education
The Trinity Lutheran Christian School was established by the Trinity Lutheran Congregation in 1960 with the purpose of evangelizing the youth of the church and the community and to provide the best in academic and religious education. The philosophy of Christian Education in TLCS is to nurture individuals in Christian growth and to guide them in their personal response to Jesus Christ. We believe that the Christian school program offers one of the opportunities for achieving the goal of Christian Education. The experiences of each child’s school day are under the guidance of degreed and committed Christian teachers, who begin each day with the Lord’s Prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance, and the Pledge to the Christian Flag. The specific purpose of the religious aspect of our school program at Trinity is to show that religion is in every area of life. We believe religion is not only identified with all life, but religion is, in fact, the underlying factor of all life.
The heart of the mission of Trinity Lutheran Christian School is to educate the whole child from a curriculum rooted in God-centered view of life, always recognizing that each possesses a unique intelligence, talents and affinities. Our students thrive in a setting that fosters a strong sense of themselves as learners along with a deep respect for others and their differences. We are dependent upon the Bible for providing the viewpoint for interpreting any subject or school activity. We welcome students from all socioeconomic, religious, ethnic and educational backgrounds.
The Trinity Lutheran Christian School Mission Statement
Trinity is dedicated to the teaching and witnessing to the Christian faith, morals and values as taught by Jesus the Christ, God’s only Son and Savior for the world. These values are confirmed in the School and Early Learning Center Mission Statement restated in 2009:
Trinity Lutheran Christian School and Early Learning Center Seek to Glorify God by:
- Providing the Best Academic Education
- Presenting Lessons in the Framework of Biblical Truth
- Preparing Students to Fulfill God’s Purpose for Their Lives
Trinity Lutheran Christian School is a Christian School. Our philosophy is to nurture individuals in Christian growth and to guide them in their personal response to Jesus Christ in every area of their life. Our families come from a wide range of different churches in the Joppa, Edgewood, Abingdon, Belcamp, Aberdeen, Bel Air, Fallston, White Marsh and adjacent areas in Harford and Baltimore Counties. We believe we are in partnership with our families to complement and continue the training begun in the Christian home.
We also admit children from Non-Christian families, recognizing the mission of the church to reach others with the gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe the opportunities to share salvation is greater than the challenges that can arise due to social and religious differences. Further, we believe these challenges present teaching moments for all of our students to learn how to share and defend their faith in a safe learning environment. It is essential for all our families to understand we are a Christian School with Jesus Christ as the central focus of all we do and that our Christian focus will impact both students and their families.
Education from a Biblical Worldview
The Trinity Lutheran Christian School provides families with a viable educational option to the Atheistic philosophy of education with no God, no Bible, no prayer and no individualistic ethical code. A Biblical worldview is intentionally integrated into our curriculum and into the student’s day. This includes core and special subjects. The Scriptures are presented as the basis for all aspects of life. The Bible is used daily in our classrooms; students participate in Chapel, prayer, devotions and Bible Study.
Solid Core Curriculum
Our annual Terra Nova test scores reveal that Trinity Lutheran Christian students score well above the national average, normally 2 to 3 grades above their present grade level. Our graduates are well prepared to enter high school and find success in accelerated classes.

Excellence in 21st Century Education requires that technology is seamlessly integrated throughout the educational program. The individual use of iPads, Tablets, computers and Laptops, is a way to empower students to learn at their full potential and to prepare them for the real world of college and the workplace. They encourage students to solve problems and think critically by stimulating analytical thinking. Learning results from the continuous dynamic interaction among students, educators, parents and the extended community. Technology immersion does not diminish the vital role of the teacher. To the contrary, it transforms the teacher from a director of learning to a facilitator of learning.

Godly, Experienced Teachers and Staff
They are Godly men and women from numerous Christian traditions whose first priority is to model a daily, personal relationship with Christ. Staff participates in daily devotions prior to each school day. Our 29 teachers average over 18 years of classroom experience and over 6 years with TLCS. All teachers have Bachelor’s Degree and 12 have Master’s degrees.
Teacher Daily Devotions
At Trinity Lutheran Christian School, teachers start each day with a time of devotion and prayer. The challenges that teachers face every day are sometimes overwhelming. In their human frailty they may not have all of the answers or have the strength to endure on their own. But by praying to God to help them and work through them, positive change can occur and strength will be given to them to fulfill their calling as a teacher each day that they are at work.
At Trinity Lutheran Christian School we work with our students in helping them successfully grow not only spiritually and academically, but social emotionally. The school counselor teaches classroom guidance lessons on various topics such as bullying, cooperation, accepting others, anger management, decision making and friendships, just to name a few. In teaching younger students skills on how to handle conflict resolution, students are taught the “I message” where they state how they feel and what they want the other person to do. “I feel ________ when you _______. I wish you would stop.” This is the foundation for teaching communication skills in working through conflicts. Students are also given the opportunity to work individually or in a small group with the counselor, where communication skills with others can be practiced and role played. When a student is ready, the counselor will facilitate mediation between students that are having a conflict. This allows each student to communicate their feelings in a safe and controlled environment. We believe that in order for students to grow and be available for learning, they need to feel comfortable and safe in their environment and know there are people to help them during difficult times.
We often talk about the need for leadership. The media are continually addressing this need; particularly in this, an election year. At its most basic, leadership is influence. With the middle schoolers at Trinity Lutheran, we stress Christian leadership – which can be defined as Christ-like influence. This is a combination of servant leadership and assertiveness without losing the spirit of humility. It seeks to gather individuals and teams around a common mission or vision in order to combine their gifts to accomplish something bigger than each student could on his or her own.
While Christian leadership is nurtured in the middle school at large, it is especially concentrated in our Student Government program, where leadership skills are taught, fostered, and put into action. The members learn the value and meaning of leading in a Christ-like manner by participating in field trips, attending and sometimes conducting meetings, planning and running activities for the school, and helping with or initiating and managing school wide service projects. While participating in this program, the students gain knowledge, experience, compassion, and confidence. They become embodied in the principles of building a climate of caring and tolerance through volunteerism, promoting Student Government as a voice of the students, and becoming involved in making some decisions for the school.
Student Government is one of the many opportunities offered at Trinity Lutheran for our leaders of tomorrow.
Needs Based Financial Aid
Trinity Lutheran Christian School strongly believes Christian education is not a commodity, it’s a ministry! TLCS desires to partner with families to make Christian education an option financially. To that end, many of our families are receiving some form of financial aid. As a part of our Christian ministry, Trinity Lutheran Christian School provides up to $200,000 in needs based financial aid to help provide a solid Christian education to children in our community regardless of their socio-economic diversity. Our admissions process is ongoing and open throughout the year. Applications are reviewed as we receive them, and financial aid is awarded on a first-come basis.
